Graham Slam Tees Up with the Children’s Wish Foundation - Saskatchewan Chapter as the Event’s Official Local Charity

Saskatoon, SK (April 11th, 2017) - The Graham and Ruby DeLaet Foundation announced today that they will be working with the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, Saskatchewan Chapter as the official local charity of their annual Graham Slam charity golf tournament. This year’s event will be held on Monday, June 12th at Riverside Country Club in Saskatoon, SK. Money raised from the event will be donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation to grant the wishes of sick children throughout the province, of which there are more than ever this year.

As the largest and only all-Canadian wish granting charity, with over thirty years of granting nearly 25,000 of the single most heartfelt wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, The Children's Wish Foundation is now expanding its reach to include children with serious neurological and genetic diagnoses. These at-risk children have complex care and mobility challenges and are dependent on their families for their day-to-day activities.

Through a Children’s Wish experience, these special children and their families enjoy respite from their illnesses and renewed sense of hope. Every individual wish is carefully planned with the children and their families to provide memories to last a lifetime and enhances quality of life.

“The wishes we create are each as unique as the children we serve,” said Gay Anderson, Provincial Director of the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, Saskatchewan Chapter.  “No parent wants their child to be eligible for a wish, however in times of medical crisis and uncertainty, the Children’s Wish Foundation is here for these children and their families to create memories, celebrate moments of joy and most of all to focus on something positive beyond all the hospital visits, doctor's appointments, surgeries and treatments.  We strive day after day to make sure that we are accessible to all medically eligible children and that we have the funds in place to do so.  By choosing the Children’s Wish Foundation to benefit from the 2017 Graham Slam, the Graham & Ruby DeLaet Foundation have truly touched the lives of these very ill yet deserving Saskatchewan children.”

Graham Slam, an annual event in the Saskatchewan community since 2013, has raised more than $1 million for various charitable organizations such as the Children’s Hospital Foundation of SK, The Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation, Golf Saskatchewan and Golf Canada, Ronald McDonald House of Saskatchewan, and the Children’s Wish Foundation.

“Ruby and I are excited to be back in Saskatchewan raising money for a great cause,” said Graham DeLaet. “With kids of our own now, we appreciate how important children's health and wellness is. The Children’s Wish Foundation does such amazing things for the children and families affected by life threatening illnesses. We are so happy to partner with them. We are looking forward to a fun few days at Riverside CC.”

"Our family is very excited to be back in Saskatchewan,” said Ruby DeLaet. “We look forward to this event every year! The Children's Wish Foundation is a wonderful organization and we feel honored to be a part of it."

Participants can also be excited about this year’s event - from the food and the course to the entertainment and gifting, it will be a great experience for everyone involved, and will raise some much needed funds to improve children’s health and wellness in Saskatchewan.

Puma Golf, DeLaet’s Official Apparel Partner since 2014, has also stepped up to the plate to provide all Graham Slam participants with some top-tier gifting and prizes. Puma will also be providing golf bags for the championship team, longest drive and closest to the pin winners.

“We are extremely honoured we can support such an amazing foundation and two  incredible people in Graham and Ruby,” said Adam Cox, General Manager of COBRA PUMA Golf Canada.

THE GRAHAM & RUBY DELAET FOUNDATION’S CHARITY EVENT - GRAHAM SLAM - RETURNS IN 2017 WITH THE ADDITION OF THE DELAET CUP

THE GRAHAM & RUBY DELAET FOUNDATION’S CHARITY EVENT - GRAHAM SLAM - RETURNS IN 2017 WITH THE ADDITION OF THE DELAET CUP

Graham Slam adds junior component to event with DeLaet Cup; New tournament format supports Foundation’s mission to aid both children’s health and wellness and develop junior golf across Canada

Saskatoon, SK (March 14, 2017) – The Graham & Ruby DeLaet Foundation announced today the return of its Graham Slam charity golf event, as well as the addition of a new junior golf initiative attached to the event in the DeLaet Cup. Graham Slam will kick off the week on Monday, June 12, followed by the DeLaet Cup from Tuesday, June 13 to Thursday, June 15, 2017. Both tournaments will be held at Riverside Country Club in Saskatoon, SK.

“Riverside Country Club is excited to host the 2017 Graham Slam and inaugural DeLaet Cup,” said Nolan Dooley, President of Riverside. “The Graham & Ruby DeLaet Foundation does very important work to improve the health and wellness of children and also supports the development of junior golf. Riverside is very proud to partner with Graham and Ruby for the benefit of those initiatives in Saskatchewan.”

Graham Slam, an annual event in the Saskatchewan community since 2013, has raised more than $1 million for various charitable organizations such as the Children’s Hospital Foundation of SK, The Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation, Golf Saskatchewan and Golf Canada, Ronald McDonald House of Saskatchewan, Children’s Wish Foundation, and more.

Graham Slam is presented by Shaw Communications, a long-time partner of DeLaet’s on and off the course. Through the Shaw Kids Investment Program (SKIP), Shaw supports organizations that promote children’s health and wellness for kids across Canada.

“Graham’s dedication to growing the game while improving the lives of children in Saskatchewan is admirable, and we are proud to support the good work that he and Ruby are doing to build a better future for kids all across the province,” said Chethan Lakshman, Vice President, Communications and Public Relations, Shaw Communications.

Launched in 2014, the Graham & Ruby DeLaet Foundation is focused on improving the health and wellness of children, as well as supporting the development of junior golfers at all stages. With this new event format, the Foundation will be able to reach both functions in DeLaet’s home province of Saskatchewan.

“Ruby and I are so happy to once again be back in Saskatchewan to raise money for local charities,” said DeLaet. “The incorporation of the DeLaet Cup this year will be an exciting and memorable opportunity for these junior players from all parts of Canada.”

The DeLaet Cup, operated in conjunction with the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA), will see qualifiers take place across Canada prior to the final event, with 24 of Canada’s top junior golfers gaining the opportunity to compete in the prestigious tournament. The qualifiers will produce 12 top juniors from the East and West coming together in Saskatchewan to play a Ryder Cup style match. DeLaet will be present throughout the tournament to watch the juniors’ performances and provide mentorship through clinics and golf talks. For more information on the DeLaet Cup qualifiers, please visit www.cjga.ca

"We are thrilled to partner with Graham and the Graham & Ruby DeLaet Foundation,  and re-establish the Canada Cup format for our members across the country," stated Brad Parkins, Chief Operations Officer of the CJGA.  "Not only will juniors have the unique opportunity of spending time with Graham during the week, but more importantly they will learn the first hand the importance of giving back and how through the game of golf you can affect positive change for those less fortunate.”

In the coming weeks, the Graham & Ruby DeLaet Foundation will be making announcements on event entertainment, as well as the local charitable beneficiary of the event.
